Car history:
1969 CORVETTE T-TOP COUPE. 350 V8. 4 Speed. I am not a dealer and have owned this car since 1990. It has always been garaged. Odometer showed 17,000 when I bought it and the title said it was actual mileage but I doubt it. I have taken it up to 35,000 currently. All suspension bushings were replaced just before I bought it. I have always changed oil and fluids too regularly (according to my wife). Glass pack mufflers for that cool beatnick sound. Was originally a 350/350 11:00 to 1 compression car. I have tried to investigate the whole engine/ transmission numbers game but cant figure it out. Front of engine block stamped 0827TLM, transmission numbers are 3925661 and 195729958.
THE GOOD THINGS: My wife has never driven this car! Car drives straight and turns heads, good clutch, good straight stopping brakes, engine is mechanically very quiet. Tilt and telescoping steering wheel. I assume this car was repainted by the previous owner in the correct burgundy color but theres a really fat chance this could be an original paint car? Mechanical tack, speedometer, ammeter, oil pressure gauges all good. No steering wheel play. 4 barrel kicks in nicely to suck up $3.99 premium. I have never spun the tires, popped the clutch or run the engine past 4200 RPM. T-Tops good. Recent new parts include battery, water pump, power steering pump and piston assembly, both front end control arms, front end alignment, right side exhaust manifold. All chrome good. Carb rebuilt about 5 years ago. Radiator cools well and the fan clutch is good. Hoses are fine. Heater will blow you out of the car and the 3 speed fan motor is good. Obnoxious seat belt reminder light that you have to push off every time.works. Obnoxious buzzer in the fender still works to remind you that you left the keys in the ignition. Paint is still pretty good (lacquer I believe) with some crazing, cracks and chips. Looks good at 4 feet in the dark with sunglasses on. (just a joke, actually more like 5 feet!). Interior redone in aftermarket Elvis velour. Door locks, door openers and window cranks all work, black carpeting redone. All interior vinyl is quite nice. Vacuum headlight motors and windshield wiper door both open correctly. Vacuum tank holds a charge. High and low beam and all running lights good. 2 speed wipers good. I replaced the ignition coil with a heavy duty unit, otherwise engine compartment is dang stock. Have the chrome ignition noise arresters, but cant figure how to get the last 2 installed (what a dope). In the right light, you can see the front clip rivets (this is a good thing, right?). Also, I dont see where there has been any accident damage/repairs, but Im not a body man. Body looks good looking down the sides. I also have the front license plate holder if you need one in your state. The parking brake actually works too! Also have reproduction 1969 manual. THE BAD THINGS: Original radio does not work, clock dead (works for a while when you clean up the electric spring winder contacts), dash light dimmer bad, turn signals will work for a while when fuse is replaced, then they eventually short out, weather stripping mediocre, windshield washer dead, 2 broken fiberglass areas on front lower spoiler under bumper, chunk of fiberglass missing right rear fender by exhaust pipe. Left exhaust manifold donut seal is leaking. Sometimes puffs a little oil smoke on start up after its been sitting a while. Frame has some rust and a couple holes by rear wheels (see photos). Front section of frame has no rust. Posi-traction rear-end works correctly. You can hear the rear end working at highway speed. Dont know if this is normal since its so close to the driver but has always made that sound. Some effort to shift into 2nd gear during cold weather until tranny warms up. I have never changed out the tires so they are getting old and worn. Some minor corrosion on chrome of stop/turn lights. Door ajar light works only when passenger door is open. Some dings and gouges in wheel trim rings. Passenger side vent console control has broken cable. Chrome exhaust tips not correct. Colors from the owner. May 26, 2008.
